The parts that matter first

Check the synopsis fields before the PDFs: response deadline, NAICS code, set-aside, place of performance and solicitation number. If the NAICS or set-aside does not fit you, stop there — your time is better spent on opportunities you can actually win.

Solicitation types explained

Sources Sought / RFI means the agency is gauging interest — respond to get on the radar. Presolicitation and Combined Synopsis/Solicitation are the real bidding documents: statement of work, evaluation criteria, terms and attachments. Special Notice means an early signal that a solicitation is coming.
